Concours d”Elegance of America has its roots in 17th century France, when the aristocrats would show off their horse-drawn carriages all throughout France and Paris,France. This event has turned into an event that is involved with the competitions between custom coach builders, automobile manufacturers and owners. The Concours d'Elegance of America at St. Johns in Plymouth, continues this tradition of showing prestigious collector automobiles. Concours also offers an automotive art exhibition, Mode du Concours, a vintage car auction and many other social events. These vehicles are then judged on the beauty and creativity of their designs. Concours has a distinguished past of showing automobiles that are the most fascinating, unique and gorgeous automobiles from many different eras, anyone who is an auto enthusiast can find something to love and appreciate at Concours. This past year was the 36th year of the Concours d'Elegance of America and it was a huge success! The first 32 years of the show were held at Oakland's University's Medow Brook Hall, which is the historic home of Matlida Dodge Wilson, widowed wife of automobile pioneer John Dodge. However, in 2011 the world-class event moved to it's new beautiful location at the grounds of the Inn at St. John's located in Plymouth, Michigan. The car selection committee is in charge of inviting the unique collections of vehicles that take their place in Concours d'Elegance of America show. The committee is very diligent in getting only the best for the Concours d'Elegance of America show.
In keeping with their traditions of showing all classing, unique, rare and amazingly crafted vehicles, the Concours car selection committee will only chose the best of the best for the 2015 show. This show will take place on Sunday, July 26th, 2015 at The Inn at St. John's in Plymouth, Michigan, for the 5th year in a row. The gorgeous hotel on the premises will offer rooms for patrons, meeting rooms and deliciously fine dining rooms. Tickets will be available for purchase the day of the event at the gate. Prices for tickets will be as follows; $25.00 for adults, children 12 and under will be admitted for free. Tickets for the Concours d'Elegance of America show will also be available for pre order online at the Concours website.
The Inn at St. Johns is a beautiful facility full of rich history and, of course, beauty! The grounds that the show is held on are complete with beautiful scenery, pine trees, flowers and the greenest grass the eye could see. The story of St. Johns in Plymouth, Michigan begins in the late 1940s, when St. Johns Provincial Seminary opened it's doors, the chapel on the facility was completed in 1955. Up until the time it closed, the seminary would serve to the Catholic Archdiocese of Detroit. The seminary closed it's doors in 1988, and the property remained vacant until 1994. Cardinal Adam J. Madia wanted to revive the property into a resource for youth and families alike. In 1996, Cardinal Adam made his vision a reality when he transformed a building on the south side of the property, and re-opened as St. Johns Center for Youth and Family. In 1998, more re-birth of this beautiful property and structure began to take place. Construction began in 1998 on the $11 million redevelopment of the main building structures on St. Johns grounds. In October 2000, St. John's Golf and Conference center opened it's doors to the public, in 2005, St. Johns added a grande ballroom to their center. The ballroom is the largest room at the conference center, complete with seating for up to 450 people. It also features a traditional color palette, time-honored furnishings and gorgeous, signature china. The opening of The Inn at St. Johns and restaurant addition opened their doors in 2006, shortly after the opening of the grade ballroom. The Inn features 118 luxury rooms and the convenience of a very large hotel with an intimate setting. It is an amazing place to spend a weekend, and the perfect place for the home to the Concours d'Elegance of America.
