If you want a real taste of Italy, right in Garden City, look to Amantea Restaurant for great tasting food with super generous portions at really reasonable fare. They offer every traditional Italian dish imaginable, a good amount of steaks, prime rib, and other American favorites. Their salads, are always fresh, packed with tasty veggies, and coated with a delicious Italian Dressing that will have your mouth watering before you even get to your main course. They can accomodate large groups, but you'll certainly want to call ahead in these cases. You'll find the decoration to be tastefully done, and befitting of a romantic interlude. It's also a great place to meet up for business lunches or dinners. Amantea, a classic all around solid Italian restaurant every time we've been there.
If you're looking for a great time amongst great looking people, consider going on over to the award winning Alberts on the Alley! There is always a diverse range of people hanging out here of all ages. Which really lends to the friendly and very fun atmosphere. They have outstanding food, which has won some of the more presitgious local awards out there. Now, onto what matters... entertainment! There is really no place in the area that offers more in the form of fun. There's always events going on, they have a very cool golf simulator, and for the people watchers out there; you're going to absolutely love the hottest wait staff in town. We don't know how they do it, buut they always manage to hire the best looking ladies, who also happen to be as friendly and efficient as any staff around.
The prices might be a touch above average here, but all we can say is: You get what you pay for. Not only is the food fantastic, you get a mountain of it with every dish we've ever tried here. Enough for two people, unless you have one of the largest appetites out there! If you stop in, make sure you try the ribs which come smothered in a delicious barbecue sauce, or the steaks. But really, anything you try there should be well above average in flavor. Every meal comes with their trademark garlic bread, soup or salad, some kind of starchy side dish. At the end of your visit there, you're sure to be quite full, and taking home another meal for the following day.
Rogala's is a small neighborhood type friendly bar. This is the kind of place where the staff seeks to get you on a first name basis as quickly as they can commit it to memory. This is a nice touch these days, where service can tend to be rather impersonal. Everytime we've been here, we have received the best service imaginable. Which, when paired with the delicious food, is an unbeatable combination. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, the type of place which makes you feel welcomed as soon as you settle into your seat or bar stool. And, for a bar, we'd like to add that the salads served with their entree dinners, is to the standards of a much higher class of restaurant than one would usually attribute to a "local bar". To top it all off, they have great drinks which are never watered down, and generally on the stronger side of the spectrum. In the end, this place is really on not to be overlooked. You won't regret spending a night here, and we'd bet you'll come back again after your first visit.
